How do I see energy and energy therapies?

Hi Mysticals,

I know it has been a while since I wrote a blog post and there are many reasons for this, which I won’t go into now, but if you have followed me for a while, you may be able to guess at some of them.  I thought I would come back with a bit of an explanation to energy therapies and how they work.

This is the first time my degree is actually helping me to clarify my thoughts on this.  (I am doing a degree in earth sciences and although some would think this would be at odds with someone who considers themselves a spiritual therapist it actually helps, especially the physics part.)

So, lets start with what I have learnt from a scientific point of view (and knew from a spiritual one), but in very basic easy to understand terms.

We are all energy!  Yes, thats right, even science agrees, we are all made up of energy.  This energy is held within the very atoms of our being.  And those atoms, their positive and negative charges are what make us into tangible beings.  However, from a scientific slant, these atoms and their energies are always interacting.  Therefore, it only takes a small adjustment to our thinking to see that even though we are seperate beings, our atoms are intermingling at all times.

Everything around you is made up from the same atoms and energies.  Which means we are interacting with everything around us.  We are affecting the energetic fields of everyone and everything we come into contact with.  If this is the case (and it is) then you can see how all energy is connected.

And this is how energy therapies work – both hands-on and distantly.  We can manipulate this energy, our own make-up allows us to do this.  Which means I can connect to the energies around me, and direct them to someone else.

There are so many different energy therapies out there.  Some more airy fairy than others.  I have certificates in several, from the traditional Reiki, to Reikara and even atlantean dolphin.  Now, although I do see or rather feel differences in the energies of each therapy I do, I don’t actually believe they are actually that different on a base level.

Dolphin energy is very relaxing and soft, unicorns are far more hands on, dragons are very strong and forceful at times.  But, essentially they are all the same.  The way I see it, is that my client will be drawn to a particular symbol, they may love unicorns for example.  Which means, that they connect with my energetic intentions far easier than asking them to connect with something that can’t envisage.

So a client that loves dolphins, will connect with me sending dolphin energy.  A client that understands Reiki will connect with reiki energy, a client that adores dragons will feel more from dragon energy.  And that is all it is.  A symbol for easier connection.  They are all the same.

We are all connected.  We are all one.  Energy is energy.

I hope this gives some of you a bit better understanding, or maybe not lol.

If you feel like you would benefit from any of my energy therapies, pop on over to my website and book yourself some sessions.

The 5 Reiki Principles

When you are first taught Reiki, one of the first lessons includes the Reiki Principles.  These are 5 ‘rules’ so to speak to abide by on a day to day basis and help to keep us balanced.  The principles should be repeated every day.  Those principles are:-

5 Reiki Principles

Let’s take them one by one.

Just for today – I will not worry:-  all worry does is cause stress and upset.  The less we worry, the more we can concentrate on moving forward.  Respond positively and we can achieve great things.  Respond negatively, and all we do is harm ourselves.

Just for today – I will not be angry:-  anger lowers our vibration.  Do not allow your vibrations to be lowered by being angry towards others.

Just for today – I will do my work honestly:-  be honest in everything you do.  Don’t allow dishonest behaviours sneak in.  This could be something as simple as being honest about doing a particular job, or it could mean stealing the office stationery.  Whatever it is, be honest!

Just for today – I will give thanks for my many blessings:-  how many times do you think everything always goes wrong, or doesn’t happen for you?  How about turning that around and looking for all the good that is happening around and for you.  Something simple is the sun shone on your way home.

Just for today – I will be kind to my neighbour and all living things:-  what goes around comes around, so stop sending out negative vibes or actions to those around you.  Instead bless them, no matter how annoying they may be!

Work on these principles every day to achieve a more balanced outlook.

Flying High

Hi Mysticals,

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted a blog, and its been a reasonably good few weeks.  Work has been good, study is up to date, and I have totally stepped outside my comfort zone and pushed my boundaries.

I did a facebook live video of a chakra meditation last week.  I was scared shitless, so nervous, my hands were shaking and I was almost going to give up on it.

I didn’t though, and I am glad I didn’t.  Everyone who watched it, has said how great it was, and it has really boosted my confidence.  So much so, that I have posted it on youtube, and it’s going out to all my subscribers in my April newsletter.  Talk about go from one extreme to the other (although I am not afraid to admit – I haven’t actually watched it back yet!)

Which is why I decided to share it here too!  Why not?  I am proud of it, proud of the encouraging comments I have had so far, and even though I know it’s not brilliant, its still something I have achieved.

So here is the link – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7XdlGQQh-I&t=1s

When you manage to fall off!

Most of you all know by now that I don’t plan my blogs all the time, or even write them half the time. And here are the reasons why, and why I got back on my swing.

Since Christmas, life has been a little up and down.  Not down enough that I can say that it is my depression, but I can honestly say that it may have headed in that direction if I hadn’t decided to do something about it!

I don’t know why, there is no reason really, that things have been getting to me, you know the throw away comments that others make, that can make you question your entire existence?  This is what has bought about my lowness of late (having a cold doesn’t help either).

I won’t go into the boring details of exactly who and what were said, but I will let you know how it affected me – I fell off my swing!  I was enjoying myself, I was on a high, I was getting somewhere with not only my business, but my studies as well, and home life (the house was gradually getting sorted).  Then one thing was said, and it knocked me, then another was said and it knocked me even further down, until I fell off my swing.  The thing is, none of this was actually directed at me, not one bit.  It just felt like it was!

So, a few weeks later and here I am.  No work was carried out on the page, studies fell behind and I basically sat in the dirt wondering why I was doing it all, and actually thinking about walking away from it.  But something was stopping me.  I was stopping me.  I didn’t want to give up!  I enjoy what I do, and my studies.

But I still needed help getting out of the dirt and back on the swing.

That help came in the form of my partner (although he doesn’t even realise it), my friends, and my networking connections.  The final catalyst was a meeting where I was reminded just how far I had come, how strong I was and how much of a leader I am.  I couldn’t give up on that now could I?

Since then, my own creativity has been renewed, new ideas, running the page and even writing this.  I am back on my swing and riding high!

Resolutions or Goals?

A month has passed since the beginning of the year, and I would like to know how many of you set yourself any new year’s resolutions?

How’s that going?  Have you stuck to them?  Are you denying all knowledge of them?  What resolutions?

I haven’t set myself any resolutions for a few years now, and the reason being is by the end of January, I would have already failed for the year, and felt like a huge foolish failure.

What can you do instead?  Make yourself a goal, and a plan to run alongside it.  So for example rather than saying my resolution is to lose weight (yep had this one lots of times), my goal is to be in better shape by the end of the year, and I have planned each step – get back to Slimming World, exercise more frequently, walk more, treat myself (massages etc) for my wellbeing.

If you break each goal into manageable steps, it far easier to achieve them.  I am not saying there will never be any setbacks – of course there will – that black forest gateaux is not gonna eat itself! But you can see how far you have come, and get back on track if you fall off.

What is the first goal you would set yourself (you till have 11 months to achieve it) and what would be the steps you want to take to get there.

Let me know.

What is your year going to bring?

I know it’s a little late but – Happy New Year!  What are you going to do this year to better yourself, your life, your career or your home?  I am going to keep it short and sweet tonight, as I need to get back into the swing of things.

I have lots of plans for this year – some are secret, and some not so.  There are plans that will make me totally scared (shitting my pants scared) and others that are easy to implement.

Comfort zones are way over-rated lol.

Things are a-changing in lots of areas of my life, and I am stepping up to the challenge.

So, again I ask – what are you going to do this year that scares you a little?

How I do a distance energy therapy!

This week, I thought I would share with you, how I perform a distance energy therapy.

Lets start with some background to distance work, as some people can be confused as to how it works. We are all energy, and we vibrate on different levels.  Science, physics to be precise, backs this up.  Although we are all perceived as seperate entities, in reality we are not, we are all connected.  If you understand this, then it is easy to see how I can call on divine energy, channel it and redirect it to someone who needs that help.  All I am doing is redistributing the energy to where it is needed.

When I do any healing or energy work, I always set up my environment.  Just because the person is not there physically with me, does not mean I should not put as much effort into it, as I would if I had a client physically come to me.  You wouldn’t expect them to just sit there in a messy room, while you faff about.  You would put some effort into making it a tranquil, pleasant, clean environment for them to relax in.  And I put the same effort into a distance therapy.

I prepare myself, drink plenty of water, and cleanse with sage.  I clear my room, cleanse it with sage and salt water.  I light candles and/or incense, and I play soft music.  The tv is off, and lights are lowered. All my attention is on making my energy as relaxed as possible so it can connect and channel the healing energy to the recipient.

Part of how I set up my room includes a crystal healing grid, no matter what energy work I am doing.  Reiki or reikara, chakra or unicorn – it does not matter.  I go to my extensive range of crystals, and choose intuitively what the client needs.  Sometimes, it will be skulls and dragons, othertimes it will angels and unicorns.  Tumblestones or rough specimens all come out to play at some point or another.  For however long the energy session is to last, it has my full and undivided attention.  Some sessions are quicker than others, but no matter what it is – I am unavaible for the length of it.

To me, you are paying for the experience whether it is distance or hands on.  You are my client, and at the moment in time, you are of the utmost importance and deserve my full attention.  After the session is over, I ground myself, clear and cleanse the energy and the healing grid, then contact you to let you know it is done.  I give clear instructions and the time I am doing the service, so you can join in your own way at the same time too.  And this is how I have many overseas clients that return time and again when things are feeling off.

It is for this reason that I provide packages, where you can book 3 or 6 sessions in advance, so that you can get ‘top ups’ for want of a better description.  For more details you can visit my website here – www.nikkismysticcorner.com and pop to the energy therapies page to choose your energy of choice.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Nikki xx

PS – I know some people may think unicorns or atlanteans are airy fairy and a step too far.  However, for me, the way to look at is, that knowing what a dolphin is and looks like, if you love dolphins, you will connect with the energy more.  The energy around us and within us is all the same – we all come from the stars!

Anxiety and how it never truly goes away!

I was really undecided about my blog this week.  And then it hit me, let me tell you about my day today.  It has been a bit of an up and down rollercoaster to be honest.

Firstly, I need to share with you, a little bit about me (some of which I have shared before).  I suffered with anxiety quite badly.  I couldn’t leave the house (apart from the school run and to very familiar places) without someone with me.  Chris knew, but I hid it well from others.  This all started when I was pregnant with my first and by the time I had my fifth bubba – it was bad!  Shopping was a nightmare, I would start off getting hot, and having to catch my breath, before feeling dizzy and nauseous, needing to leave, get in the fresh air and sit down.  Quite a few years I suffered like this.  I tried not to let it affect me, but it did.  I used to go out all over the place on public transport.  It had all stopped.

Then last year, I decided enough was enough.  I had to beat this thing.  I made the decision to join a local networking group (well two to be precise) which would not only push my limits by making me take public transport again, but actually meeting new people and going to new places – on my own.  And I did it.  Public transport – a doddle now.  Meeting new people – easy!

That was until today!

I had a meeting to go to – early for me!  I do love my sleep, I can’t help it.  My underactive thyroid demands it, I feel useless without it, but I needed to go to the meeting.  I decided that Chris could drop me off near the venue, and I would walk round the shops for a little while until it started.  And that is where it all went wrong.  I walked around a couple of shops before going to the local bookstore.  As I was walking around, I started to feel the not so familiar panic setting in.  It starts off with me feeling hot, then I can’t quite catch my breath, I started to shake, and knew I had to get outside.  A few deep breaths and gulps of cold air got it all back under control.

It truly knocked me though.  It has been well over a year since this has happened to me.  I just wanted to slink off back home and lay on the settee – sod the meeting.

I walked a little so I could cool down.  And after a few minutes I felt ok again.  I had an internal battle going on about going home or staying.  I managed to let staying win, and even convinced myself to go into a couple more shops.  It wasn’t pleasant – because I was waiting for it all to kick off again, but it didn’t, luckily.

And I went to my meeting.  I am so glad I did, I am so glad that I didn’t let anxiety win today.  The meeting has been quite thought provoking, building on new ideas, and setting huge goals (got to dream big – right?)

Now, the day ended up better than it started, much better.  But it has knocked me a little, knowing that my anxiety had not finished with me – yet!  That I had not truly beaten it.  It did however make me realise that although it was not beaten, it was weak and wounded.  It couldn’t harm me anywhere near as much as it used to.  And for that I am grateful.

I am going to continue on my own self development and awareness.  I am going to continue sharing my knowledge with others and helping them to overcome their fears using my energy therapies and spiritual awareness.  And if you need support or some guidance then just drop me a message, I am always glad to help.

Self-care and why it is important!

Let’s start this blog with something I did the other night.  I had the house to myself (well almost, kids were in bed and Chris was out creating new items), and I had a lot of work to catch up on.  I had mentioned earlier that I might have a nice long soak in a spiritual bath, but hadn’t got around to it.  The main reason for this was the amount of work and study I had to do.

For a couple of hours I tried to concentrate on the pile of things to do, and just could not seem to get anything achieved, finished or even started in some cases.  My head was not comprehending the stuff in front of it.  I kept uhmming and ahhing over having a bath.  I managed to get zero work done.  In the end (about 10 pm), I thought to myself that this is going nowhere, I might as well pack up and go and have that bath.  Even though I thought I was wasting time I could be productive, even though I couldn’t really be bothered running it, even though I truly couldn’t even be bothered to mix up some spiritual bath salts.

I put my laptop to one side, dragged myself to the bathroom, set the bath.  Put my book and glasses in there, went and found warm pj’s and slippers to put on, and then mixed up my spiritual bath (dead sea salt, bicarb, mugwort, calendular flowers, frankincense oil, cassia oil and a sprinkling of rosemary).  I sunk into that bath and it felt good.  I read my book whilst I had a soak, washed my hair, got out, got warm, made a hot chocolate and sat back down.  And do you know what happened after?  I picked up my laptop and actually managed to make sense of what I was doing, and put in an hour or so of work.  I went to bed feeling like I had actually achieved something.

kermit-1745804_1920

I know that was a bit long winded, but it has got my point across.  We push ourselves so hard at times, and sometimes pointlessly because we do not look after us!  I needed the bath, that relaxation time, switching off and just enjoying the stress free moments to be able to come back at what I was doing with renewed focus and energy.

Why do we always deny ourself this?  Either we don’t have time, resources or money to be able to truly put ourselves first.  I am sure you could all probably think of a similar situation to mine (pretty boring as it was) that having some ‘you’ time may have helped.

So, how can I help you with this.  All of my services are planned around you.  From a reiki session that will help you to relax if nothing else (although the benefit are far more wide reaching than just relaxation) to a card reading that may give you some new direction that you hadn’t thought of, a workshop that can teach you how to mix your own spiritual bath to some gifts to lift your mood.  They are all about you, and I know how guilty I feel when I treat myself to any of these.  Let’s look at the why’s we don’t do them.

Time – We should always invest time in ourselves.  If you don’t, you will end up exhausted, and not able to function fully.  Even the busiest of business people spend time on themselves being pampered or working out.  10 minutes is a good start, an hour is even better.

Resources – This sort of ties in with the next section too.  You may feel that you can’t meditate without guidance – download a free app, bath time – even cheap table salt can aid in making your bath special.

Finances – A lot of us feel bad when we spend on ourselves, I know I do especially when the kids need so much.  And in this financial climate too, spending upwards of £40 on a reiki or massage session does seem indulgent.  But it really isn’t.  Budget around it, or find someone like me that is willing to discuss payment plans and options to help you achieve a relaxed state.

Remember self care is not selfish, it is important to be able to function effectively, if you aren’t working fully on yourself, how on earth can you give anything of yourself to help others and we should all set ourselves the time to do it.

Blessings

Meditation For Children

Following on from my last blog where I was bricking it over having my first ever speaker slot at an event, here I am, the other side of it.  Feeling pretty damn good about it all actually.  My talk went really really well, and the feedback was amazing.

This led me to believe that you may all like an insight into my talk.  Why meditation is important to not only us but our children too!

I think we all know or have read about how meditation helps us as adults.  From relaxation, to better health, better sleep to quicker recovery times, to giving a greater connection to the Universe, Divine Source or whatever else you may call it.

So if it is so good for us, then think of the benefits our children could receive too, if only we taught them.  There have been a lot of studies within education institutions both here and the US (and probably other countries as well) that look at how childrens behaviour can change drastically with a few sessions of meditation.

What we need to remember though, is that we as adults can find it very difficult to maintain a meditative state.  There are some that think they can’t meditate because they have not found the best way for them to do so.  Our attention spans are quite extensive compared to a child, so we need to adjust any practises accordingly.

A good rule of thumb that I was taught during my 20+ years working with children, is that you can only expect a child to have an attention span of double their age in minutes ie.  a 2 year old would have a maximum attention span time of 4 minutes (if you are lucky).  We also need to realise that making a child sit still for any period of time can be a bit tricky too.

How can we overcome this?  Well, firstly think about one of the new crazes for adults – adult colouring books, and how are these marketed to us – they reduce stress, and how do they do that, whilst colouring we are switching our brains off, relaxing, concentrating on something creative that becomes almost meditative.  And we can do the same with children, colouring beside each other, not talking the whole time can lower a child’s stress levels, and can even calm them down.

Another thing that can be tried is the glitter bottle or jar.  There are plenty of instructions on google.  When a child is getting too boisterous, upset or even tired, get the jar, give it a shake and let them lose themselves in watching the glitter fall to the bottom of the jar.

My favourite pastime with my kids is mindful walking and sitting on the grass.  Walking barefoot when it is warm enough too.  Connecting with the ground in this way can be very energising, de-stressing and calming.  We call it grounding, they call it fun.  My kids love to lay on the grass and watch the clouds too – again you can get lost in doing this, which puts us or rather them into a meditative state.

Of course, if they are a little older we can introduce more mainstream meditation, with visualisations etc.

All of these methods can be adapted to work with any age group, children with special needs or even teenagers stressing over exams. There are so many ways our children can benefit.

And this is where I come in.  I am offering my services to not only you but your children too, on a one to one basis, and groups once my therapy room is up and running.  Working on a plan together to introduce meditation to your young children.  Email me for further details and fees at nikkismysticcorner@gmail.com.  If you run a school group or local club and want to book me for sessions there as well, be assured that I have a current DBS certificate.  I look forward to hearing from you.
